FLICKR ALBUM: Lessons from Mexico

Tamaulipas is a charming state with a wealth of natural beauty and local traditions and is located in the northeastern corner of the country along the Gulf of Mexico. Towns of Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa and Matamoros are all important gateways in the Borderlands. The state is justly famous for its section of the Sierra Madre Oriental, particularly the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve.

Tamaulipas borders the U.S. state of Texas to the north, the Gulf of Mexico to the east, Veracruz to the south, San Luis Potosí to the southwest, and Nuevo León to the west.

The capital of Tamaulipas, Ciudad Victoria, is a modern city with a beautiful historic center.

Another major city, Tampico, is located on the Panuco River and is the second most important port in the country.
