FLICKR ALBUM: Dulces

Pronoia. The opposite of paranoia, pronoia is the unshakable conviction that life is a vast conspiracy to liberate you from suffering, make you really smart and shower you with blessings. It's not as simple as it might appear. The blessings flowing your way may not be the exact ones you imagine you want and deserve. They might even annoy or confuse you when they first show up. But if you welcome the blessings you're actually given, they will ultimately serve you better than any you had expected.

- Don Juan talking to Carlos Castaneda

Para mí sólo recorrer los caminos que tienen corazón, cualquier camino que tenga corazón. (I only trek the paths that have heart, whatever path that has heart.)
- Carlos Castaneda, The Teachings of Don Juan

Don't be a horse race, be marathon. Don't fear the long road, coz on a long road, u got a long time to sing a simple song. And it's never too late to start the day over. It's never too late to pick up the phone.

History is not the soil in which happiness grows. The periods of happiness in it are the blank pages of history.
- Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

It is probably true quite generally that in the history of human thinking the most fruitful developments frequently take place at those points where two different lines of thought meet. These lines may have their roots in quite different parts of human nature, in different times or different cultural environments or different religious traditions: hence if they actually meet, that is, if they are at least so much related to each other that a real interaction can take place, then one may hope that new and interesting developments may follow.

Go to the ugliest or most forlorn place you know--a drugstore parking lot, the front porch of a crack house, a toxic waste dump, or the place that symbolizes your secret shame--and build a shrine devoted to beauty, truth, and love.

Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.
- Martin Luther King, Jr

Ask yourself: 'Am I ready to stop equating cynicism with insight? Do I dare take the risk that exposing myself to uplifting entertainment might dull my intelligence?' If you doubt your ability to handle relaxing breakthroughs, you should stop reading now.
- Rob Brezsny, Secrets of Pronoia/The Sun (PDF)
