The 2008 Easter market focuses on indigenous artisans
takes place at the Plazuela
de Carmen Alto on the south side of the Carmen Alto Church.
Crafts from various parts of Oaxaca are for sale. Artisans are participating
from Santa Maria Huazolotitlán, San Pedro Amuzgos, San Andres
Chicahuxtla, San Sebastian Rio Hondo Miahuatlan, Santa
María Atzompa, Teotitlán
del Valle and Oaxaca
Other markets have sprung up around town, including the church
yard of La
Compañia , the plaza in front of San Francisco Church
and inside Fundación Bustamante Vasconcelos.
Oaxaca is synonymous with Mexican folk art. Arte popular
has no finer home than Oaxaca
During holidays, temporary markets spring up throughout Mexico.
Visitors may think these markets are open all year long. It comes
as a surprise to many that during low season the plazas and streets
are empty of the temporary markets.
